Misra is a surname found among the people of Brahmin caste who follow tantrik traditions. They are found in North India and Nepal. They have migrated to all the major countries of the world.
==Origin==
The word misra belongs to the ancient European language which means a line of dark red colour. Red colour signifies feminism and line refers to decent. Thus the word misra means feminine descent. Misra Brahmins belongs to the Goddess Katyayni's clan, the only feminine clan in the entire system.
The word 'mishra' is used in some Arabian and European folk tales in relation to magic and witchcraft.
